About our Education Services

You don't have to just want to play in a band or be a DJ in order to consider a career in the music industry.

Producers, writers, engineers, teachers, music therapists (for the aurally impaired, for instance) and many more vocations all share an appreciation and understanding of music.

City College currently run their practical music related coursework from our studios, for details of their music courses, please visit their website at www.ccn.ac.uk

In 2011, we are also pleased to say that we are again working with Sprowston Community High Schhol (www.sprowstonhigh.org), who are delivering exciting new courses including The Creative & Media Diploma.

Additionally, many local music teachers run their own private tuition classes from Plug Studios, encompassing various instruments.

Please contact us if you are interested in learning to play a new instrument, or brushing up on forgotten skills.

Full Description:

With an emphasis on various forms of popular and contemporary music, the course will focus on the practical and the theoretical. Across the 6 units you will begin to explore music theory, the workings of the music industry as a business and as a cultural force in modern society, and – of course- get a lot of opportunity to play. Expect to have your standard of musicianship raised considerably. Expect also to learn a lot about working with other people, particularly within a band context. Right from the start you will be treated like a young professional musician, with gigs at the likes of The Marquee, the Arts Centre, and rehearsals in PLUG recording studios – as well as in the College’s purpose built recording, rehearsal and technology studios.

There are a number of key visits during the year. These change each year, but for now the main thing to consider is that you will need to see a lot of live music.
