Our Facilities
Our comfortable chill out room is spacious and relaxing – comfy sofas, cosy lighting and upcycled drum furniture provide the perfect place to unwind during breaks. Free tea and coffee is available from our generous hot-water urn and snacks and other drinks can be bought from our vending machine. Whilst relaxing, why not peruse our exhibition wall, featuring work by local artists? Or grab a book from our charity bookcase? We are also a dog friendly organisation, so feel free to bring your well-behaved dogs in (just not into the rehearsal rooms due to the volume!)
The chill out room is also available to hire for art exhibitions, book readings, album launches and talks - speak to either Pete or Sharon who’ll be more than happy to help.

- Plug Studios is also wheelchair accessible; we have portable entry ramps, the building is all on one level and we also have a well-appointed disabled toilet.
- There is ample off-road parking and wide-covering CCTV of the well-lit site.
- *NEW SHOP* We now stock a small selection of strings, leads, picks, drumsticks and batteries for sale.
- Our electricity is now sourced from 100% renewable energy (wind and water) and every tube, light and bulb on-site has been replaced with energy efficient and, more importantly, environmentally friendlier LED alternatives.
- We have a water refill station for filling up your drinking bottles mid-practice.
- Plus, our toilets are clean, warm and habitable - a real shocker for a rehearsal studio!
Our Aim
We are here to support grass-roots musicians, whether you are just starting out or you’re an old veteran. The variety and diversity of musical genres that grace Plug’s rooms is fantastic, especially for what is, after all, a fairly small and isolated rural city; Folk, Metal. Electronica, Rock, Indie, Punk, Ska, Jazz, 50’s and 60’s, Rap and even a complete Bodhran ensemble (Irish drummers). Whatever your style, however you play, we will do whatever we can to help you along the way:
We are reaching out to as many local craftsmen, artists and tradesmen as we can to build a support network of small businesses and creators. We want Plug to become a one-stop-shop; a place that can point you to the help and services you need.
Community, support, graft and integrity are at the heart of all we do.
- Need to record a demo, EP or album? We can help.
- Need some artwork created or laid down to a printing template? We can help.
- Want a good local guitar repairer? Yep, we know some.
- Need your amp serviced? We have contacts, no worries.
- Need a good joiner to build you a vinyl storage unit? That too!

In addition, we also support local charity Mind The Gap - an inclusive music group for people with mental and physical health issues in Norwich. They provide a friendly, safe environment to socialise with fellow musicians, play music, form bands, improve skills on guitar, bass, drums, songwriting, vocals and performance. |
We are pleased to announce that our adopted Orangutan orphan called Okto has been successfully reintroduced to the wild! We have now adopted a new orphan called Adib through the Orangutan Foundation, helping to ensure that orangutan habitat remains protected, providing them with sanctuary and safety in the wild. |
Brief History
Established in 1997, Plug Studios is Norwich’s longest running, independently owned rehearsal rooms. Originally opened by Errol Watson and Kim Ives and sited at the old Fish Market in Mountergate, the studios relocated to their current, bigger, purpose-built premises as demand grew. Over the years, Plug, Errol and Kim have garnered a solid reputation for supporting the local music scene.
After 22 years of being a cornerstone in the Norwich music scene, Errol and Kim sold the business to local musician and occasional Plug sound engineer Peter Fellowes and his wife, Sharon. Peter has played guitar for local punk stalwarts SOUTHPAW for over thirty years and has been recording since the tender age of 16 when he bought his first four-track tape recording unit. Interestingly, he is still playing the same three chords he did back then…
Since taking over, Peter and Sharon have completely revamped the studios look and feel and have a long term re-investment plan in place. The studios are an absolute labour of love; improvements are regular and ongoing in a bid to make Plug the best it can be for customers old and new alike!
